TRENTON TO HOST EASTERN CANADA CUP CHALLENGE

The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL), in partnership with the City of Quinte West and the Trenton Golden Hawks, have announced ticket package prices for the 2017 Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge in Trenton, ON. All event game will be played at the Duncan McDonald Memorial Community Gardens Monday, November 13th to Wednesday, November 15th, 2017.  The Duncan McDonald Memorial Community Gardens is the home of the Trenton Golden Hawks of the OJHL and has played host to the 2017 Winter Showcase as well as the 2017 Dudley-Hewitt Cup.

 

Ticket packages are now on sale with single day passes costing only $10, while 3-day passes will be available for only $25.  A family day pass with a maximum 2 adults & 2 children or 1 adult and 3 children is available for $20 while a family 3-day pass cost only $50.  Purchases for all passes are available on line at the following link https://tickets.trentongoldenhawks.ca/, at the Golden Hawks box office at the rink weekdays between 10 am and 2 pm or during home games.

 

“This fast paced tournament will provide stellar hockey action by some incredible young athletes,” said Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison. “I encourage all of you to get your tickets early because they will go fast. Perhaps the next time you see these young men play, it will be for the NHL.”

 

Ten all-star teams will compete in a tournament format that will consist of 4 teams from the OJHL, 2 teams for the CCHL and QJHL respectively, and 1 team each from the MHL and NOJHL.  A total of twenty three games will be played over the course of the three days to determine the champion with each team playing a modified two period game in a round robin, quarter final, semi-final and championship game.

 

Additionally, event organizers unveiled a new logo design that represents the best on best quality of play and incorporates our new partnership with our event host, the City of Quinte West.

 

About the Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge

 

The Eastern Canada Cup All-Star Challenge is one of the premier Junior A hockey events in the country and provides tremendous exposure for the top prospects of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL), Central Canada Junior Hockey League (CCHL), Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL), Quebec Junior Hockey League (QJHL) and the Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL) to play in front of scouts from all over the hockey world – including the NHL, NCAA, CHL and Canadian universities and colleges.  Additionally, it also serves as a player identification event for the coaching staff for Team Canada East in player selection for the yearly training camp and subsequent entry in to the World Junior A Challenge.

 

About the OJHL – “League of Choice”

 

The Ontario Junior Hockey League is the largest Junior ‘A’ league operating under the auspices of the Canadian Junior Hockey League with 22 member clubs.  A proud member of the Canadian Junior Hockey League and Ontario Hockey Association, the OJHL was originally named the Ontario Provincial Junior ‘A’ Hockey League and it was formed out of the Central Junior ‘B’ Hockey League in 1993-94.  With a long and storied history of developing players for the next level, including the CIS, NCAA, CHL, Minor Pro ranks and the NHL, the OJHL had more than 135 commitments in 2015-16, including 52 NCAA Division I scholarships.
