The Golden Hawks made their first acquisition of the 2017 offseason, picking up Barrie, Ontario native Jocob Drobczyk in a trade with the Hawkesbury Hawks of the Central Canada Hockey League. Drobczyk notched 18 points in 50 games in the 2016-17 season with Hawkesbury.

The 20-year-old forward scored 40 goals with the Hill Academy Prep School Team before being drafted in the 13th round of the OHL Priority Selection Draft by the Kingston Frontenacs in 2015. He has found himself getting action with the Frontenacs, Toronto Patriots (OJHL), Charlottetown Islanders (QMJHL) and the aforementioned Hawkesbury Hawks.

Drobczyk will look to bring some grit and sandpaper, as well as some offence to what is expected to be a largely new-look Golden Hawks roster this coming season. The Trenton Golden Hawks organization would like to welcome Jacob to the team.
